MBAGATHI HOSPITAL LAUNCHES COMPREHENSIVE DIABETES CENTER
Mbagathi Hospital has today officially launched its Comprehensive Diabetes Centre (CDC), the second of its kind in Kenya after the one in Nakuru. The Centre is projected to serve patients from Nairobi and the Central Kenya region, strengthening access to comprehensive and patient-centred diabetes care.
The launch brought together key health sector leaders and partners including Danish Ambassador to Kenya H.E Stephan Schonemann,Chief Officer Health Facilities David Sande,Chief Officer Medical Services Ms Maryam Dahir, Mbagathi Hospital was led by its CEO, Dr. Alexander Irungu, while Novo Nordisk was led by its Middle Africa General Manager, Mr. Jakop Mollerup. Also present were Pumwani Hospital CEO Ms. Christine Kiteshuo, alongside Dr. Kibe from Nairobi County, as well as other stakeholders.
Established through the iCARE partnership between Mbagathi Hospital/Nairobi County and Novo Nordisk, the Centre will offer multidisciplinary diabetes care, patient education, nutrition counselling, self-management support and improved continuity of care.
The launch underscores the shared commitment to strengthening sustainable and patient-centred diabetes care in Nairobi and the wider Kenyan region.
