SIGHT SAVERS INTERNATIONAL DELEGATION VISIT

Mbagathi County Hospital hosted a delegation from Sight Savers International, who visited to assess the progress of the Optical Shop project they funded under the Refractive Error Program in Nairobi County.

The team commended the progress made and further strengthened eye care services through the donation of essential ophthalmic equipment, including an auto refractor, ophthalmoscope, retinoscope, automatic lens meter, LED vision chart, trial frames, pediatric and adult spectacle frames, among other accessories.

They were received by Deputy Med Sup Dr.Beatrice Mwangi and other members of staff.

ESSENTIAL LABOR CARE AND BIRTH TRAINING

Mbagathi Hospital hosted and participated in a training on Essential Labor Care and Birth, with key focus areas including bleeding after birth (postpartum haemorrhage) and the introduction of the Labor Care Guide.

The training supported by MCGL–JHPIEGO, reinforced the hospital’s commitment to improving maternal and newborn health outcomes through quality, evidence-based care.

NYERI COUNTY MEDICAL SERVICES TEAM BENCHMARKING VISIT

Mbagathi Hospital hosted a benchmarking visit by officers from the Department of Medical Services and Public Health Nyeri County on the planned installation of a Biomedical Liquid Waste Disposal System.

The team was received by the Hospital Management Team led by Medical Superintendent, Dr. Ericah Koima, and taken through the facility’s biomedical liquid waste management system, including its installation, operation, maintenance, and overall performance.

The visit provided an opportunity for knowledge sharing and exchange of best practices aimed at strengthening environmental safety, public health, and the management of hazardous healthcare waste.
