ZIMBABWE MINISTRY OF HEALTH DELEGATION VISITS MBAGATHI HOSPITAL

Mbagathi County Referral Hospital hosted a delegation from the Ministry of Health, Zimbabwe, comprising Mugove Chideme and Tanaka Sakubani for a benchmarking visit focused on Mbagathi’s best practices and the NESP Programme. The delegation had healthcare technology, Mindray Global leadership led by Jeff Gui,International IVD Sales and Marketing Department,Mindray and Sunview Kenya.

The delegation was hosted by CEO Dr. Alex Irungu,County Medical Lab Cordinator Mr.Martin Maitima, Head of Clinical Services Dr. Beatrice Mwangi, and Laboratory Manager Jane Lugaga. Mbagathi is home to one of the only two County Governments’ ISO- Quality Standards certified laboratories in Kenya and recently retained its certification, underscoring the hospital’s commitment to quality, excellence and internationally recognized standards of healthcare.

The visit provided an opportunity for knowledge exchange and sharing of best practices in strengthening quality healthcare systems.

MBAGATHI HOSPITAL LAUNCHES NEW OPTICAL SHOP

Mbagathi County Referral Hospital today officially opened a new Optical Shop, fully funded by Sightsavers, marking another milestone in expanding access to quality eye-care services.

The continued partnership between Mbagathi and Sightsavers has supported various initiatives, with approximately KSh 15 million invested through equipment donations and operational support, including the new Optical Shop.

The launch was graced by Sande Oyolo County Chief Officer Health Facilities, Nairobi City County, as Chief Guest, alongside Moses Chege, Country Director, Sightsavers Kenya, and Dr. Monica Bitok, Head of Ophthalmic Services Unit, Ministry of Health, The Hospital C.EO Dr.Alex Irungu,Med.Sup Dr.Erica Koima and Head of Department Dr.Muguche and other members of staff

Mbagathi appreciates Sightsavers for the continued partnership and commitment to better healthcare for Nairobi as envisioned by H.E Gov. Sakaja’s support towards achievement of specialized healthcare services in Nairobi.

MBAGATHI HOSPITAL AND UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI COLLABORATION AGREEMENT

Mbagathi County Referral Hospital today marked another significant milestone in clinical training, research and practice by signing a collaboration agreement with the University of Nairobi.

The agreement was signed by the University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor, Eng. Prof. Ayub N. Gitau, and Mbagathi County Referral Hospital Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Alexander Irungu, reaffirming the institutions’ shared commitment to quality healthcare and sustainable clinical standards.

The signing was witnessed by the UoN DVC Academic Affairs Prof. John Mande, Dean Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Daniel Ojuka and Associate Dean Prof. Rose Jepchumba.

Mbagathi Hospital team included Medical Superintendent Dr Ericah Koima, NSM Lynette Kinara, Chief Pharmacist Dr Pius Kinuthia and HAO Agnes Mwageroki.
