EMMANUEL’S JOURNEY TO RECOVERY

Emmanuel Karanja, a 10-year-old boy, was born with a right shoulder swelling that progressively enlarged, causing his mother deep concern as she sought treatment. They eventually arrived at Mbagathi, where tests confirmed the mass was made up of large blood vessels and fatty tissue.A decision for surgery was arrived and they accepted. A multidisciplinary team comprising of Dr Hassan a visiting consultant Thoracic Cardiac and Vascular surgeon, Dr Areeb consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, Dr Kinara Anesthesist and Dr Lumire Resident Medical Officer. It involved meticulous exploration, dissection of the mass, and ligation of its feeder vessels. Fortunately, the surgery was successful, and Emmanuel is now on his path to full recovery.

ROAD TO ZERO MATERNAL DEATH

Dr. Watau the Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, delivered an insightful presentation during the monthly Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response (MPDSR) committee meeting.She brought a cake to celebrate the remarkable achievement of zero maternal deaths over the past one and half months,using this occasion to promote unity and foster a collaborative spirit among the committee members.
