Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC) donated essential supplies to support babies at Mbagathi Hospital, reaffirming its long-standing partnership with the facility. Over the years, KDIC has collaborated with the hospital on several impactful projects.

The team was warmly received by the Deputy Medical Superintendent, Dr. Beatrice Mwangi, and Pediatricians Dr Nkatha Meme who appreciated KDIC’s continued commitment to strengthening healthcare services.

Mbagathi County Referral Hospital has once again cemented its position as Nairobi County’s premier healthcare facility after being crowned the best level 5 public hospital for the third consecutive year at the Service Delivery Awards, presided over by H.E. the Deputy Governor Njoroge Muchiri @D G NJOROGE MUCHIRI

The ceremony was graced by the CECM, Health, Wellness and Nutrition, County Secretary, Chief Officers, C.E.Os and senior county leadership, reflecting the significance of this achievement.

Mbagathi Hospital has enhanced its radiological diagnostic services with the installation of a state-of-the-art digital X-Ray system marking a key step towards improving service delivery and patient care.

GROUND BREAKING OF MODERN DIABETES CARE UNIT AT MBAGATHI HOSPITAL IN PARTNERSHIP WITH NOVO NORDISK

Mbagathi County Referral Hospital, in partnership with Novo Nordisk, is constructing a modern Diabetes Care Unit aimed at enhancing pediatric and adult diabetes management, staff capacity building through training, research & referral services.

The project is funded through a grant from Novo Nordisk, a multinational brand in pharmaceutical products which will cater for the construction and medical equipment.

The Novo Nordisk team visited the site today and was received by the Hospital Management team led by the CEO, Dr.Alex Irungu reaffirming the shared commitment to improving diabetic care and patient outcomes.

NAKURU COUNTY REFERRAL HOSPITAL VISIT FOR NICU BENCHMARK

oday, a delegation from Nakuru County Referral Hospital visited Mbagathi County Referral Hospital for NICU benchmarking exercise. The team was led by Paeditrician Dr. Kibari E.G and Paediatric Anaesthetist Dr. Christine Gathiru.

They were warmly received by Mbagathi Hospital CEO Dr. Alex Irungu, Medical Superintendent Dr. Ericah Koima, and Mbagathi Hospital Neonatologist Dr. Christine Manyasi and other members of staff.

The teams discussed and agreed on partnership in support of establishment of NICU at Nakuru County Referral Hospital.

QATAR CHARITY VISIT TO SUPPORT NUTRITION INITIATIVES

Mbagathi County Hospital was honoured to host a high-level delegation from Qatar Charity, both from HQ Doha and the Kenya Office, as part of their mission to assess and map the nutrition needs in Kenya, with a key focus on addressing malnutrition among children in vulnerable populations.

The delegation was warmly received by the hospital’s CEO, Dr. Alex Irungu, alongside Madam Jessica Mbochi, County Nutrition Coordinator; Mrs. Julie Koroso, Head of Nutrition Department; Mr. Bering Ochieng, Kibra Sub-County Nutrition Coordinator; and other dedicated hospital staff.

As part of their visit, the team toured the Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) clinics within the outpatient department, where they had the opportunity to engage with clients and observe frontline interventions. They also visited the paediatric ward, meeting children admitted with severe acute malnutrition complications.

The Hospital CEO, along with the entire Hospital Management Team (HMT), expressed sincere gratitude to Qatar Charity for their generosity and for their commitment to strengthening nutrition systems in Kenya. This visit marks the beginning of a promising collaboration aimed at improving the lives of the most vulnerable members of our community.

INVITATION TO ALL FOR BLOOD DONATION DRIVE

September 25th marks the world Pharmacists Day, In commemoration Mbagathi Hospital has set up a blood donation drive for all to participate in the noble course of saving lives. This event will be held on the 25th September 2025 at the facility MCH grounds starting from 8AM till 5PM.

KEMRI-WELLCOME TRUST KIND DONATION TO PAEDIATRIC WARD

Mbagathi Hospital Paediatric Ward received a generous donation of four (4) Mindray paediatric patient monitors, complete with accessories, from KEMRI-Wellcome Trust.

These advanced monitors will greatly enhance the Hospitals capacity to track vital signs accurately and in real-time, enabling timely interventions and ultimately improving patient outcomes for our youngest and most vulnerable patients.

Present to receive the donation were the Hospital CEO, Dr. Alex Irungu, Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Beatrice Mwangi, Head of Paediatrics Department Dr. Rukia, Hospital Accountant CPA Rodgers Modi and other senior members of staff.
